Advent & Christmas 2013 February 20, 2014 The nave on the fourth Sunday of Advent The fourth candle. Advent’s almost over–time to get ready for Christmas by Greening the Church!! This crew stuck cloves in oranges More orange stickers. This year’s theme: Holly and Ivy (with oranges). Beth decks the Great Hall tree. Gathering greens. Some of us, um, supervised. We greened the outdoors too. The nave door in progress. Greens in the outdoor urns. Greening the chapel. It helps to dress the part. The chapel ready for Christmas. Strategizing for greening the nave. Roses for the altar. Arrangements almost finished. Roses are ready. Setting up the creche in front of the altar. Checking the candles. Everybody’s here but the Christ Child. Taking a break. Holly… …and ivy! And candles. “Birnam Wood to Dunsinane…” Delivering the greens. Greening high and low… The oranges nestled amidst the holly and ivy. Oranges for the windows. It takes partnership. Holding the ladder. Meanwhile, lunch was prepared. All ready to eat. And afterwards, a Christmas pudding! Ready to light–we won’t go until we got some! Christmas Eve–once more, the Christ Child comes. Epiphany snow-blowing.
