St Stephen’s volunteers worked with the Terre Haute Homeless Coalition as part to the annual Point in Time Count of the Homeless. We worked at Fairbanks Park, along the Wabash River, serving chili, peanut butter sandwiches and hot coffee. We also passed out bags we put together that included a hat, gloves, socks and a McDonalds gift card. Ziplock bags with hygiene supplies were given out as well as blankets, coats and clothing.
Sandy doing an interview with a man who has been living under a bridge for about a month. We gave him a blanket and a BIVY sack as well as a lot of food, clothes, shoes and hygiene items.
Waiting for the chili and sandwiches to arrive.
The food is here!
Feels good on a cold day.
Ruth and Martha handed out the goodie bags. Notice the mound of clothing in the background.
It was pretty breezy, so Linda ran to Menards for plastic to protect us from the wind. Great thinking! We’ll remember this for next year.
Changing of the guard. Drew came for our second shift of volunteers.
