Disciples, Apostles, and Saints!
From the safety, warmth, and relative comfort of the kitchen table, a sofa, or even the bed, we could stream a Sunday service or pray the daily office with the Venite App. In a small way, it felt like pandemictide again. Separate, unable to connect.
As I shared last week, I don’t like to close the church. Posted services, dates, and times are important. To be here in case others are. We protect one another and that can mean staying home. And it can mean showing up. But when the county tells us to stay off the roads . . . that settles it. Or it should.
So we take the opportunity presented to us to prepare again for the annual meeting. And to be honest, I’m grateful. More time to work on the slides, the presentation, better chance of a good turnout. Of course, my address was tied to that week’s gospel, so let’s pretend we were all here for it! Smile and nod and be like, yeah, we just heard that, of course!
Our bylaws encourage us to give the congregation enough time to hear about a congregational meeting and make arrangements to attend. So the rescheduled date is February 8th after the 10:00 service. Our backup date is February 15th, if we have another incredible storm system show up on Saturday night. How about we not; I’m just saying we should announce it now, just in case. It is the Midwest.
So join us February 8th and come prepared to gather, to share, to participate in the life of St. Stephen’s with hope and joy!
With love,
Drew+
