Stewardship

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church is a fellowship of people committed to participating in God’s grace in our neighborhood of Terre Haute, Indiana. We are downtown, in the heart of the city, and, alongside our immediate neighbors, are also surrounded in each direction by Indiana State University. We are drawn to the needs of the city, the school, and our friends.

If you are looking to contribute to the ministry of St. Stephen’s immediately, follow this link to our giving page. There you can learn about how to make a financial contribution.

We also have an intentional campaign each year to invite our members and associated friends to consider making a commitment for the following year that will directly contribute to the church’s ongoing ministry. Your pledge to support the operations of St. Stephen’s is essential to the sustainability and vitality of our ministry to this neighborhood and to the wider community.

2025 Pledge Campaign

The annual pledge campaign for 2025 is called “Tell Out, My Soul” after the popular hymn by Timothy Dudley-Smith. It is based on The Magnificat, a song of praise and gratitude. It’s first verse offers this:

Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord!
Unnumbered blessing give my spirit voice;
tender to me the promise of his Word;
in God my Savior shall my heart rejoice.

The story the hymn references is from the first chapter of Luke when the young Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth, who is also pregnant. It is an encounter so improbable and profound that we, too, are left in awe at the greatness of God.

The song Mary sings is powerful, humble, and startling. But it is also a direct reflection of her experience of who God is. She responds to this moment with devotion and passion because of all the people in the world, God chose her! And more than that, God chose her because of who she is. Who she represents.

We, too, have a story to tell about the greatness of God. A story that also involves our participation in telling it, living it, and shepherding it into the future. Please join us in this year’s campaign!
